Boston Duck Tours

When it comes to traveling, I can be quite anal when I make our travel budget and itinerary. I make sure that we have ample amount of budget for emergencies because we always bring mini-S wherever we go. As much as possible, I avoid tour packages and land/water city tours when we have the Lonely Planet books and a lot of other travel resources online which could be helpful as you plan out your travel itineraries.

There are cities, however, that you would consider taking trolley and boat tours to maximize your short travel time. Even with their most efficient transportation/train system, it is advisable and practical to pay for these tours. Say for instance, the trolley/hop-on-hop-off tours in D.C. will lead you to places and tourist spots that are too tiring for long walks and too far for metro trains.

This is the reason why we took the Duck Tours in Boston to save travel time (I even had extra time to shop for bead storage at the Quincy Market!) and yes, to make sure that we cover everything on such a short trip. Also, we (me, Stripe, mini-S plus 5 other friends) are all new to the city. It was fun experiencing Boston through land and water. The entertaining driver slash tour guide gave us a comprehensive coverage of the Boston history.

Oh and if you have kids, let them volunteer to drive the boat for 5 minutes or so.
It was a dream come true for mini-S :).
